  • Have you discovered the ANU MakerSpace?

The ANU MakerSpace is a network of spaces across campus and a community that knows people learn by doing. The MakerSpace community and tools are accessible to all current ANU staff and students. We believe that inter-disciplinary environments breed creativity and that everyone has something they can teach others.

Projects undertaken in the ANU MakerSpace can be linked to education, research and personal hobbies. We are a commons for curiosity – a truly research-led environment, furnished with resources for people to experiment, investigate, prototype and solve problems. Our aim is to empower users with confidence to be life-long self-learners and makers.

We have welcomed over 2500 members over the last five years from all parts of ANU – staff and students alike. We are always expanding our capabilities, and have supported everything from people mending their jeans, to young start-ups, course-conveners and critical research infrastructure.

Whether you’re a totally new member or one who hasn’t visited in a while, head over to our websiteto learn more about what’s available and how to join. We’ve recently expanded our tooling, space and opening hours! If you have a friend outside ANU with a cool project idea, tell them to check out our residency program.

Our Instagram page is also a great place to keep updated on what’s happening in our spaces!

Dr. John Debs is Director of the ANU MakerSpace, and Senior Lecturer in the Research School of Physics. He has a background in quantum physics and is a life-long maker, who has been recognised nationally for his teaching with several awards
