Join a newly formed working group
Are you interested in helping to develop resources to improve undergraduate teamwork teaching?
You are welcome to join a newly formed working group that is developing a range of resources designed to help those who teach undergraduate teamwork.
Some ideas for resources are ready to work on, especially:
- A series of simple how-to guides that allow educators to, metaphorically speaking, look over someone else’s shoulder to see how they, for example, formulate team agreements, assess team projects and develop case studies.
- Tips and tricks for responding to challenges such as dealing with free-riders, quiet students or “weaponised incompetence.”
Some ideas need further discussion before we can turn them into resources, including:
- what are the characteristics of successful teamwork
- how best to debrief student teams so they can learn more from successes and challenges
- how to celebrate and disband teams
- how to break mythologies about, and cultural resistance to, teamwork
- how to create rubrics that can reward great teamwork skills or problem-solving, even in the absence of teamwork output success
- How to work with students as adult learners in respectful, supportive ways.
We‘re looking to create a range resources in various formats – one-pagers, toolkits, short videos, blogposts and maybe even podcasts and infographics.
All levels of contribution are welcome – from sharing your favourite tip, to co-writing resources, and to reviewing the resources produced. If any of this sounds like it may be of interest, please contact Gabriele.Bammer@anu.edu.au.
