Comparing the types of artificial intelligence while providing guidance to students.

AI at ANU

GenAI, paired with Traditional AI, is rapidly transforming our lives and work in ways we cannot yet imagine. At ANU, we aim to prepare students by embracing the possibilities of AI while providing guidance to engage with it responsibly and with integrity.

This collection includes a range of resources and information to help you get started with AI at ANU.

Traditional AI

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is all around us: predictive text and grammar correction, speech recognition technologies, chatbots, and more. This widely used type of AI, known as Traditional AI, excels at pattern recognition, following rules, and providing information.

GenAI

Generative AI (GenAI) comprises algorithms that generate new content and data such as text, images, audio, and video based on prompts. Unlike Traditional AI, it can adapt and produce unpredictable outputs by learning underlying patterns and associations from massive datasets.
