  • Give students 5 -10 minutes to rank items.
  • Invite students to share their ranking and explain their reasoning.

A list of items to rank and criteria for ranking.

Variations

  • Make it a group activity (Variation 1): Students pair up or form small groups and come to a consensus regarding ranking the items. Invite groups to share and explain their choice of ranking to the larger class.
  • Make it a group activity (Variation 2): Students complete the ranking task on their own. Students then pair up to compare their thinking and discuss differences in ranking.
