FHEA applicants complete a written component only. The FHEA application is structured as follows:

  • application cover Sheet
  • Context Statement (up to 300 words)
  • five Reflective Narratives on each of the PSF Areas of Activity (up to 3,000 words for all five texts combined)*
  • references/citations list (six to ten references recommended)
  • supporting statements from two referees.

* Although you can choose how to spread the balance of the 3,000-word limit across the five texts in your Reflective Narrative, we recommend that you should aim for around 600 words in each of the five sections (plus citations).

Across your Reflective Narratives, you need to make sure that you include evidence of all five Professional Values; apply all five forms of Core Knowledge; and evidence effective and inclusive practice in all five Areas of Activity

Do not map any of the PSF Areas of Activities (As), Core Knowledge (Ks), or Professional Values (Vs) against your Context Statement or Philosophy of Teaching and Learning. These sections are not reviewed against the PSF.

Write your Reflective Narrative

Download the REx FHEA Guidance_vAug24.docx for further guidance on this topic.

To submit your application, you will need the Fellowship application form (EFS REx pathway version). This will be made available to you via MS Teams once you are enrolled in your REx peer group.
