Professor Grady Venville, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), is delighted to announce that the ANU Learning and Teaching Strategy (the Strategy) was approved at the Academic Board Meeting held on 18 October 2022.

This is a great achievement for the University and provides a future-focussed whole-of university approach, outlining the practical steps ANU can make to realise the aspirations of the ANU 2025 Strategic Plan.

Led by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Maryanne Dever, and developed with extensive consultation and stakeholder review, the Strategy connects all elements that are critical to our success in learning and teaching. It defines our distinctive approach, and identifies the skills, competencies and supports needed to secure and maintain our position as a leading university. The Strategy establishes shared expectations across the university and guides the application of organisational resources.

Recent disruptions have presented a series of questions and challenges to universities – our new Learning and Teaching Strategy is ready to meet them head on. In tandem with the 10 Year Digital Masterplan and the new Curriculum Framework which will be going to the Academic Board for approval next month, the steps that we are taking forward together will become increasingly clear and unified.

We are also excited to announce that the Centre of Learning and Teaching (CLT), which will be critical to the implementation of the Strategy, has recently secured a new Director, Lucy Arthur. Under Lucy’s leadership, the Centre will take on a significant role in the implementation of the Learning and Teaching Strategy.

The Academic Portfolio team look forward to working together, across the university, on the next phase of our journey.
