SFHEA applicants complete a written component and participate in a Professional Conversation (PC).

The written component of the SFHEA application is structured as follows:

  • completed Application Cover Sheet
  • Context Statement (up to 300 words)
  • Philosophy of Teaching and Learning (up to 400 words)
  • one Reflective Narrative on the five PSF Areas of Activity combined (up to 2,000 words)
  • two Reflective Case Studies (The overall word limit for the two Reflective Case studies combined is 1,500 words. You can choose how to spread this across these two texts, but we recommend that you should aim to use around 750 words in each text.)
  • references/citations list (eight to ten references recommended)
  • supporting statements from two referees.

Across your Reflective Narratives and Reflective Case Studies, you need to make sure that you include evidence of all five Professional Values; apply all five forms of Core Knowledge; and evidence effective and inclusive practice in all five Areas of Activity.

Do not map any of the PSF Areas of Activities (As), Core Knowledge (Ks), or Professional Values (Vs) against your Context Statement or Philosophy of Teaching and Learning. These sections are not reviewed against the PSF.

After you have submitted your written component, you will be invited to participate in a Professional Conversation (PC). Read more about this under topic 5 in this collection

Write your Reflective Narrative and Case Studies

Download the REx SFHEA Guidance vAug24.docx for further guidance on these topics.

To submit your application, you will need the Senior Fellowship application form (EFS REx pathway version). This will be made available to you via MS Teams after enrolment into a REx group.
