AFHEA applicants complete a written component only. The AFHEA application is structured as follows:

  • completed Application cover sheet
  • Context Statement (up to 300 words)
  • two Reflective Narratives on PSF Areas of Activities of choice (1,400 words maximum for both texts combined)
  • references/citations list (three to five references recommended)
  • one supporting statement from a referee.

Across the two Reflective Narratives, you need to make sure that you include evidence that you are effectively using appropriate Professional Values, including at least V1 and V3. You are also required to demonstrate application of appropriate Core Knowledge, including at least K1, K2 and K3.

Do not map any of the PSF Areas of Activities (As), Core Knowledge (Ks), or Professional Values (Vs) against your Context Statement or Philosophy of Teaching and Learning. These sections are not reviewed against the PSF.

Write your Reflective Narrative

Download the REx_AFHEA Guidance_vSep24.docx for further guidance on this topic.

To submit your application, you will need the Associate Fellowship application form (EFS REx pathway version). This will be made available to you via MS Teams after enrolment into the REx group.
