Understanding activities

Students take turns to interview each other in pairs, then summarise their partners’ answers to another pair of students, followed by a group discussion. 

Students generate challenging questions related to the course content, testing their peers in pairs and writing the questions and answers down for future self-assessment.    

Students attempt to identify and explain what an image is showing. Once multiple options are explored, the correct answer will be given.

Involves pausing to allow students to review their notes, compare with other students and ask clarifying questions at transition points in the class.   

Students identify a specific part of the content they need help understanding and sharing this with the educator.   

Students write down their responses to a prompt to reflect on what they have learned. Students are given just one minute to write their response. 

Students summarise what they have learned, then rewriting their answers for a specific audience and sharing the answers with the class.

Students work together on content in an “expert group” then return to their original “home group” and teach what they have learned to their groupmates.
