Synopsis

Associate Professor Laura Wilson is an ARC Future Fellow in the School of Archaeology and Anthropology and a Chief Investigator in the ARC Training Centre for Multiscale 3D Imaging, Modelling and Manufacturing. An award-winning and internationally recognised researcher, she has supervised more than 25 students across PhD, Honours, Masters, and Doctor of Medicine and Surgery programs.

Laura’s supervision philosophy centres on empowering students to become curious and creative problem-solvers while supporting their individual journeys in knowledge creation. Her approach is shaped by her own international research career spanning the UK, Switzerland, Japan, and the US, which has provided her with deep insight into the opportunities and challenges of global scholarship.

Her research is inherently cross-disciplinary and strengthened by industry partnerships, which she integrates into her supervision practice. This collaborative and inclusive approach values diversity of perspective, enabling her students to thrive in a wide range of career pathways across academia, industry, and government.

Laura currently leads the 3Devo research group, a vibrant team of 13 members with backgrounds spanning archaeology, biology, engineering, and medicine. Under her leadership, the group exemplifies the integration of diverse expertise to drive innovation and excellence in research and training.
