Synopsis

Barbara Taylor tutors English in the School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics. With a background in theatre, she brings a storyteller’s passion to the classroom, enlivening critical discussions with humour and connecting the study of literature to contemporary issues and contexts beyond the university.

Her teaching philosophy is centred on fostering engagement, curiosity, independence, empathy, and play. Barbara works to create an open, reflective, and respectful learning environment where students feel supported to explore ideas, develop skills, and recognise their strengths. Through this approach, she aims to equip students not only with academic insights but also with lasting connections and confidence that will guide them throughout their studies and into their futures.
