A new space to develop multimedia education content

The Education Design Studio (EDS) and Centre for Learning & Teaching (CLT) are collaborating to provide ANU educators and staff multimedia and studio facilities. The fruit of this collaboration is the CASS + CLT Multimedia Space (located in Baldessin Precinct) which was launched last month at an event that showcased its capabilities to academic and professional staff.

The space contains two studio areas and a range of specialised AV gear for the creation of educational multimedia content. Open to all teaching and general staff, the space is supported by dedicated multimedia and education support colleagues who induct users into the space and are on hand to support education content production.

Content created in this space can be wide-ranging. For example, teaching staff can record a course welcome video to be added to their new course site, film an interview with an expert to be shown during their course or self-record an entire lecture for a flipped classroom approach. Non-teaching staff can record training videos using screen capture or an overview of the services their area offers delivered as a short piece-to-camera with powerpoint slides. The space can also be used for professional presentations, for example a pre-record video showcasing ANU research or the results of a project and also for participating in (or hosting) an online conference or seminar

Bookings for studio times, inductions and consultations can be made using the buttons below.

CASS Self-recording studio: The acoustically treated studio is equipped with a high-quality microphone, document camera, and options for virtual backdrop/slides. It also has the capability for professional screen capture and an optional teleprompter. This studio is designed to hold one or two people and is ideal for course welcome videos, training videos, screen capture videos and scripted pieces-to-camera.

CLT Education studio: The larger space is modular and is equipped with a large LCD screen for displaying content, podcasting/audio recording facilities for up to three people, green/black/white backdrops, a small “light board” and two iMac computers that can be used for post-production of video/audio content.
